Community

The Social Good Lab is a decentralized, intergenerational coalition of students, professors, and alumni committed to building a more just and livable world. We’re sort of an organization—but not really. We’re more of a gathering place. Think late-night bonfires, which we love and have often together. They’re kind of like our board meetings—except we don’t vote on anything.

The Social Good Lab is not held together by hierarchy. It’s held together by shared values, mutual respect, and a commitment to showing up for one another and for the work.

Student Leadership

The Social Good Lab is student-powered. Each year, a small group of students take on leadership roles within the Lab. These roles evolve, but often include helping to:

  • Shape Lab culture and norms
  • Support projects and events
  • Welcome new students into the community
  • Serve as peer mentors and facilitators

Student leaders don’t run the Lab—they care for it. They help hold the space. They keep us on our toes as engines of creative destruction.

Founder & Director

The Social Good Lab was founded to bring together years of experiential teaching, community-based work, and a pedagogy centered on agency, humility, and relationship.

The Lab’s founder currently serves as its director—shaping the curriculum, stewarding the community, and supporting students as they learn to do meaningful work with care and integrity.

Alumni Board of Advisors

Our Alumni Board of Advisors is made up of former students who now work across nonprofits, business, government, healthcare, education, and social enterprise. They serve as mentors, collaborators, judges, guest speakers, and thought partners. Alumni are invited into the Lab to:

  • Mentor student teams and projects
  • Serve as judges or advisors for showcases and summits
  • Share real-world perspective and hard-earned lessons
  • Help students navigate life after college

This intergenerational exchange is central to the Lab’s identity. Students lead. Professors guide. Alumni mentor. We all become better changemakers.
