A Developmental Laboratory for Changemaking
From the Inside Out
The Social Good Lab is where students become the kind of people capable of doing meaningful social good by confronting fear, practicing agency, building relationships, and acting with integrity.
The Social Good Lab is not an incubator, accelerator, or service-learning program. The Lab is a learning ecosystem housed in the College of Business at the University of Mary Washington.
The Lab brings together coursework in social entrepreneurship, real-world projects, and community (faculty across disciplines, local leaders, and alumni) to help students practice engaging the world as it is—while imagining how it could be otherwise.
WHO IS THE SOCIAL GOOD LAB FOR?
The Social Good Lab is for students who:
- are curious about how change actually happens
- value relationship, reflection, and collaboration
- are willing to practice becoming someone others can trust
You do not need to:
- want to start a nonprofit
- have a startup idea
- be a business major
- be outgoing or charismatic
- have a perfect GPA
- already see yourself as a “changemaker”
The Social Good Lab is for students from all majors and backgrounds—artists, organizers, future educators, entrepreneurs, public servants, technologists, and people still figuring it out.
What matters is not where you’re starting, but your willingness to begin.
Remember, it only takes one person to summon something different.
So are you ready to sit with the world, see it as it is, and imagine it differently?
Imagine it better.
Are you ready to get to work—designing, testing, launching a project, watching it fall short, and trying again?
If so, keep exploring:
